Remember way back in 2021, when Lewisville Noon Rotary club members would gather at Bistecca for lunch each week? Those sure were good times...

Fortunately, we'll be carrying on the tradition in the New Year! The club will be back at Bistecca at noon this Wednesday for our regularly scheduled meeting. Club treasurer Eyad Salloum will be giving a presentation on Real Estate Note Investments, and Chef Morris Salerno undoubtedly will be serving up a tasty meal. As we wait with eager anticipation for our next gathering, here's a brief look back at happenings during our last official meeting of 2021...

Eat Your Microgreens!

Rotarian Leslie Thompson (pictured here with LNR club president Dirk Dahlke) gave a brief and informative presentation on the benefits of microgreens. These nutrient-packed seedlings are easy to grow at home and offer a host of health benefits, from lowering blood pressure and cholesterol to promoting good gut health and even reducing the risk of cancer. You can find (or grow) more than 60 varieties of this tiny superfood. Popular choices include beets, chard, spinach, chives, garlic, dill, fennel, radicchio, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, watercress, beans, chickpeas, and lentils.

One easy option to grow microgreens at home is to use a ready-made kit, complete with pre-seeded quilts that sprout in less than a week. You can purchase a microgreen starter kit (or any number of other product bundles) at www.Hamama.com. Use code GLOW22 to get 22% off your first order. (This is not an affiliate link, just the company's New Year's special, good through January 31st.) Need recipe ideas? You'll find plenty in the Hamama blog
