The Lewisville Noon Rotary Club last week recognized two local high school students for their academic achievements, demonstrations of kindness, and commitment to serving their local community.

Lewisville High School (LHS) Student Body/Senior Class Vice President Emmerson Webster (pictured above) received the Student of the Month award for October 2023. Emmerson also has been the Choir President at LHS for two years and is a member of Interact and the National Honor Society. She frequently organizes events through her church and has dedicated 600 hours to community service during her high school tenure. “She’s easy with a smile for everybody,” said LHS principal Jim Baker (pictured above right), adding that Emmerson’s commitment to others is changing lives.

The club also honored Tianyan “Summer” Philips (pictured below) with the October 2023 Exceptional Student of the Month Award.

“She sets a strong example for her peers every day,” said Special Education teacher Kaitlyn Juroska, adding that Summer lived in an orphanage in China until age 14. At the time, she was only reading at a 1st grade level. Since being adopted by parents in Flower Mound, the 19-year-old has progressed in her reading skills and English language abilities, as well as other areas of academic study. “She is truly remarkable,” Juroska said.

The Lewisville Noon Rotary club is thrilled to celebrate the achievements of these two remarkable young women, and we wish them continued success in the years to come.
