The Lewisville Noon Rotary last week honored two local high school students for their outstanding achievements and strength of character. Viron Ellison, Jr., captain of the Fighting Farmers football team at Lewisville High School (LHS), received the November 2023 Student of the Month award. In addition to being a starter with the Fighting Farmers and a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes for the past four years, Ellison is a member of the Student Council and is a favorite mentor to the youth at the feeder school.

Last year, somebody took a picture of Ellison while he was mentoring with his arm around a student who was crying, demonstrating true compassion and care, recounted LHS principal Jim Baker. “He’s strong enough to handle that burden” well beyond his years, he said, proudly. Viron Ellison is committed to play football at Tulsa University, where he plans to major in architecture.

The club also recognized Katy Callaway as the Exceptional Student of the Month for November. LHS special education teacher Les Dodson read comments from several of Callaway's teachers, who noted her academic achievements as well as her kindness toward her fellow students. “She has a wonderful servant’s heart and is what a servant leader looks like in action,” one teacher wrote.

Lewisville Noon is blessed to recognize these two shining stars in our community, and we wish both of them continued success in the future.
