CISNT Food Pantry Update
Linda Rangel Gonzales, MSW, CISNT Program Director for Zone 4 Campuses, presenting at last week's LNR club meeting.

Linda Rangel-Gonzales from Communities in Schools North Texas (CISNT) presented an update at last week's LNR meeting on the food pantry program offered at several Lewisville ISD campuses. A non-profit organization supported by the Lewisville Noon Rotary, CISNT serves at risk students to help them complete their education through high school and have a greater chance of success in life.

CISNT site coordinators provide case management services at schools from Gainesville to Bridgeport, Denton, Lewisville, and other local townships. In addition to conducting student assessments, they develop individualized student supports, and monitor and adjust the support services as needed. Support services range from mentorship and supportive counseling to academic support, family engagement, and health & human services support, including access to food pantries for students experiencing food insecurity.

Nearly 2,000 students in north Texas schools are impacted by food insecurity this year, Rangel noted, and the food pantry program has provided vital assistance for those in need. Lewisville Noon Rotary provides assistance six school-based food pantries, including Hendrick Middle School, Delay Middle School, Durham Middle School, and three Lewisville High School campuses, and is proud to be a part of this critical initiative. Several members of the Lewisville Noon Rotary who are elected officials took part in a special "9/11 Walk of Remembrance" on the southbound Lewisville Lake Pedestrian Bridge this past Saturday. Organized by Lewisville City Councilmember Ronni Cade, the event brought together officials from Lewisville, Highland Village, Denton County, Hickory Creek, Corinth, Lake Dallas and Shady Shores, who all gathered in the center of the bridge along with other citizens and representatives from local law enforcement and emergency services agencies. Participants carried American flags, Texas flags, and first responder flags to honor and remember all who perished on September 11, 2001. More pictures from photographer Kelly Blackall can be seen online here.

FAMILY OF ROTARY

Please pray for Bill Collins' step-daughter, Tiffany, who recently underwent emergency surgery for a ruptured spleen after being admitted to the hospital for pancreatitis. She has already been in the hospital for a month and is currently in the ICU, with a long road to recovery ahead of her.

Please pray also for Bill's son, Jim, who is recovering after brain surgery this past week to reduce the number and severity of epileptic seizures he has experienced since childhood. Jim will have 30 days of rehabilitation to relearn speech and other cognitive functions.

Please pray for Michelle Martz's husband, Keith, who is being treated for symptoms of Myasthenia Gravis. Pray that he continue to respond positively to the current treatment protocols and makes a complete recovery from this debilitating condition.

Please pray also for former LNR club member John Blair's son, Patrick, who has been diagnosed with cancer of the kidney. John himself is a cancer survivor, and we pray for an equally happy outcome for his son.

Finally, please pray for Leslie Thompson's step-mother, Regina, who is undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer. Her treatments are currently on hold, due to an increased heart rate, and she will be working with specialists to bring the side effects of the chemo under control before she can continue her treatments.

For any other prayer requests, please send to Audrey Stansbury at audreystansbury@gmail.com.
