Dennis Song and Kyle Shipp Receive Paul Harris Pins
LNR club president Eyad Salloum (far left) and Foundation committee chair Steve Cox (far right) last week presented Paul Harris awards to past president Dennis Song (second from left) and Kyle Shipp. Song received a Paul Harris +7 pin, and Shipp was awarded Paul Harris +5 for their continued generous contributions to the Rotary International fund. Paul Harris +8 is the highest level of recognition before someone becomes a Major Donor, the name for supporters who give $10,000 or more to the Rotary Foundation to fund global and local philanthropic initiatives. Rotarians Enjoy Cocoa with the Popo

Members of the Lewisville Noon Rotary club turned up at City Hall on the evening of February 22nd to enjoy "Cocoa with Popo," a fun meet-and-greet event for Police Chief Brook Rollins (top photo, second from left). Among those who attended were Rotarians Sue Bowman (top left), David Seaman (top photo next to Chief Rollins), Lewisville mayor TJ Gilmore (bottom left), and Representative Kronda Thimesch. Officer Rachel Roberts did double duty, representing both the Lewisville Noon club and our local law enforcement. Click photo to open full size image.
The Power of Identity to Achieve Success
LNR president Eyad Salloum presented the club's flag to guest speaker Al Herrera. Click photo to open full-size image.

Featured speaker and leadership coach Al Herrera last week gave a captivating presentation on how determining your true identity can lead to success in work and in life.

“I believe each of us has a future, and what you’ve accomplished to date is nothing compared to what you’re going to accomplish,” said Herrera.

“Everything you have accomplished is based on what you think about yourself,” he continued, underscoring the crucial role our sense of identity plays in our mindset and actions. The challenge is that we can pick up a “fake ID” along the way. For example, if a father walks out on the family, the child might think they are to blame, Herrera said, vulnerably sharing about his own difficult childhood.

Herrera offered two additional examples of lies he came to believe earlier in life because of an idle word spoken by a teacher and unethical decisions he made in a previous career.

“All of these tragedies and challenges are a reflection of what we make of them,” he said, inviting audience members to get past their own “fake IDs” to thrive in the future. The deeply rooted fake IDs you carry are holding you back from the future you desire, he added.

“You determine history,” Herrera said. To underscore the point, he asked rhetorically for listeners to consider what would people say at their funeral and what they would like people to say. “Think about the next historical move you can make this week” toward those positive statements, he exhorted. Every day is an opportunity to write your history and exchange the lies you believed for your real ID, which uses your challenges and difficulties to encourage and empower others.

Herrera has put together a helpful worksheet with a daily exercise to remind people of their real ID, which is available for free on his website at https://alhleadership.com/growth-guides.
Dennis Song Seeking Brain Fog Study Participants

Past LNR club president Dennis Song is seeking people interested in joining an eight-week clinical trial concerning “brain fog” caused by Covid, Menopause, chemotherapy or another brain injury, such as a stroke.

Participants will receive three pharmaceutical grade supplements: Omega from algae, a probiotic, and a brain function antioxidant formula. At the beginning of the study and every two weeks, Dennis will conduct an assessment using a standardized cognition test call MOCA and a survey. Researchers will use this test to evaluate whether cognition is improving or declining. Participants will receive the supplements at no cost along with a stipend for participating.

To learn more or enroll in the study, please contact Dennis Song, RPh, CHC, at 972.355.4614 or dennis@flowermoundpharmacy.com.
