CIS Needs Your Help Shopping for Groceries
Hello fellow Lewisville Noon Rotary friends!  As you know, the past few years our Club has been providing food for a few of the local middle and high schools for kids who are in need.  We have that opportunity again this school year and I am asking for your help.
This Wednesday, November 4th, we make the first of three food pantry purchases. As in the past,  volunteers are needed to help shop at Sams Club immediately after our Wednesday meeting.  And, it would really be helpful if we had a couple of folks to volunteer to load up their pickup or SUV and deliver to a school.
The time commitment is as follows:
  • Meet at Sams Club at 1:15 and pair up with a school Site Coordinator.  Shopping usually takes about 15-20 minutes.
  • If you can deliver to a school, this should take no more that 45 minutes.
Due to Covid, we cannot help with taking the food into the school.  We unload at the curb and the Site Coordinator along with student help will do the rest.
I really need your help.  We are shopping for six schools with total enrollment of over 7,000 students.  Somewhere between 40-60% of the student population in each school, (depending on which school we talk about), is being served by the food pantry!
I know this is short notice but, our efforts touch a lot of lives and meet a lot of needs. I look forward to serving with you!

Please text me (469-371-7512 include name) to let me know if you can help shop of a vehicle to deliver.  Thank you!

Peddle for Polio Message from Grady
Dear Spinning Teammates:
I want to thank you for participating in last Saturday's World Polio event; Spinning to Eliminate Polio.  It was a big success for our District and ultimately, toward our efforts to raise funds to eliminate polio in the last two countries, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

I personally enjoyed getting to visit with fellow Rotarians from various clubs, several that I have spoken with on the phone or emailed back and forth for various reasons over the years.

I want to provide you with some results of Saturday's event:
  • We had 38 Rotarians and Interactors participate either spinning or volunteering.
  • We hammered our original $1000 goal with a donated result of $2500 PLUS funds are still coming in which may take us over the $3000 mark.
  • Together we rode those stationary bikes for 12 hours STRAIGHT.
  • Several spinners used Facebook to draw in additional donations.
  • We had one non-Rotarian walk up and make a $250 donation because he was aware that one of his good customers is a Rotarian and he had seen them there on the bike spinning.  He told me that "it just felt like the right thing to do".  That one lone encounter made it all worth it to me.
  • Just at our event alone, we had 9 different Rotary clubs all working together toward a common goal for a very worthy cause.
  • THAT's JUST WHAT WE DO AS ROTARIANS.
  • Total donations for our District 5790 are presently at just over $17000 with funds still coming in via checks and other means.
Thank you all again for helping me make our event a success.

Message From The President
July 13, 2020

Re:  President’s Message

Dear Lewisville Noon Rotarians,

It is my pleasure to extend you all a gracious and hearty welcome to the 2020-21 Rotary Year.  Without question, I am also excited, humbled and proud to take the helm in helping guide this great club’s future as your newly appointed President for the 2020-21 term.  Let me further take this opportunity to thank our immediate Past- President, John Kazor and his capable Board  for the exceptional leadership and service they have provided us in such a difficult past year.

As you know, we are currently in the midst of a global coronavirus pandemic crisis that few could have predicted the severity of pain and suffering it would present to our nation, business livelihoods, our families and also our Rotary Club.   For months, we have now been quarantined in our homes adjusting to the new normal of commuting to our living rooms and joining a myriad of Zoom meetings.  However, I am optimistic that this crisis may soon end for the better and provide us with opportunities for renewal and growth.  Meanwhile, the health and safety of our members will remain my top priorities.

Finally, the Rotary Theme this year is “Rotary Opens Opportunities” and one of my goals will be to focus on further strengthening our club by encouraging young Rotarians to consider becoming our club’s future leaders.  We have a challenging year ahead of us and I look forward to what we can accomplish together in continuing the Lewisville Noon Rotary tradition of exceptional leadership and service.  Again, thank you my fellow Rotarians for your trust and confidence in handing over your club to my and great Board members care for this year.

Monday July 13th, Russ Kerbow (Pictured Left) presents a check to Boy Scout Troop 437 leader, Brad Korber (Pictured Right) from the Lewisville Noon Rotary.  Thank you Boy Scouts for your hard work and service!
Welcome New LNR, President Bill Lawrence!

Lewisville Noon Rotary,

Please join me in welcoming our newly appointed president, Bill Lawrence for the 2020-21 term!  We are excited to have you lead us into our new year!
Patriot Flag Program

Thanks to all our Patriot Flag subscribers for either renewing or adding flags this year.  Memorial Day marks the first of 5 holidays when the Lewisville Noon Rotary with a big help from the Boy Scouts post flags at businesses in Lewisville.  Rotarian James Lee recently snapped this photo with scouts putting out his flags this year.  Thanks for your support, James!
