The Lewisville Noon Rotary Club is mourning the loss of longtime member RL Crawford, who passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022. A life-long resident of Lewisville, RL graduated in 1963 from UNT, where he met his wife of 57 years,  Brenda. RL worked his entire career as a financial advisor with Northwestern Mutual and was honored in 2018 by the Million Dollar Round Table, a trade association for financial professionals, with a lifetime membership for achieving 50 consecutive years of meeting its ethical standards and sales requirements.

In addition to his professional work, RL made a significant impact in the local community through his active engagement in numerous non-profit organizations and his past leadership role with the Lewisville Chamber of Commerce. RL served on the UNT Board of Regents and the UNT Foundation Board of Directors, and was a member of the Mean Green Club and the UNT Alumni Association. 

 

Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home will be handling funeral arrangements, and details will be sent to club members as soon as they are available.

 

Last week's Lewisville Noon Rotary meeting featured guest speaker Missy Phipps, who gave a profoundly moving presentation about Ally's Wish, a nonprofit that provides wishes for terminally ill mothers of young children. Named after Allyson Hendrickson, a mother of three who died from cancer in 2014, the charity has granted more than 200 wishes to bring joy to the mothers it serves and bless their families with a lasting memory. Past wishes have included everything from family trips to Disneyland to building a backyard oasis and gifting James Avery charms to the children. The nonprofit also hosts two annual events, including the Boots & Blessings Gala, which will be held this year on April 28th at Marty Bs in Bartonville. If you want credit for a make-up, contact LNR Membership chair Terry Russell to let him know when and where you attended another Rotary club meeting, or the date and service activity that you participated in to count as a make up. You have two weeks before and two weeks after a missed meeting to make up for your absence. Make-ups are a great way to meet Rotarians from other clubs and become more engaged with the outreach activities we do in the local community!
