Amit Banerjee first met John Kazor, a long-time member of the Lewisville Noon Rotary, through a program called Philanthropy and Volunteerism in Entrepreneurship (PAVE) when Banerjee was eight years old. Founded in 1994 by Kazor's friend Bob Hopkins, PAVE helps introduce kids to the concepts of philanthropy, communication and leadership, laying the foundation for them to implement what they learn as they grow older. Banerjee was so inspired that he started looking for volunteer opportunities wherever he could, and helped launch another youth-focused nonprofit, Philanthropy Kids magazine, when he was only 13 years old.
The two organizations later merged, and Banerjee now is president and CEO of Philanthropy Kids, a 501(c)(3) organization that teaches children around the globe you don’t have to be rich or old to be a philanthropist, you just have to care.
Philanthropy Kids encompasses several education programs and media projects that celebrate and inspire philanthropy in our youth. In addition to PAVE, which is its flagship educational program, the nonprofit created the Youth in Philanthropy Conference, as well as an incubator program called Impact Factory, which advises kids and young adults wanting to start their own social enterprise, nonprofit, fundraiser, or charity event. The organization's media projects include Philanthropy Kids magazine and an online talk show, called "How Can I Help?" Need credit for a make-up, or just looking for a way to support our local community? A group of Rotarians will be heading to Sam's Club right after this week's lunch meeting to shop for the Lewisville ISD food banks, which provide free groceries for students in need at seven school campuses. The shopping trip should take less than an hour, and it's one of the many ways that the Lewisville Noon Rotary is making a positive impact in our great city.
Want to move to a new level as Paul Harris Fellow? Now's your time to jump on the fast track! From September 1 - December 31, 2021, for each dollar you give ($250 - $500) through the Rotary Foundation to the Annual Program Fund "share," District 5790 will match that with points. A total contribution of $500 plus 500 bonus points qualifies you to become a Paul Harris Fellow, or move up to another level if you are already a member.
The program is offered only once a year, so don't miss this opportunity to grow our foundation! For more information, contact Steve Cox at stevec@door.net.
If you want credit for a make-up, contact LNR Membership chair Terry Russell to let him know when and where you attended another Rotary club meeting, or the date and service activity that you participated in to count as a make up. You have two weeks before and two weeks after a missed meeting to make up for your absence. Make-ups are a great way to meet Rotarians from other clubs and become more engaged with the outreach activities we do in the local community!

Please pray for Bill Collins' step-daughter, Tiffany, as she recovers from emergency surgery for a ruptured spleen and pancreatitis.
On a happy note, Bill's son, Jim, is doing well after recent brain surgery to reduce the frequency and severity of epileptic seizures he has experienced since childhood.
Please continue to pray for Leslie Thompson's step-mother, Regina, who continues to experience issues with her heart rate that are delaying the remaining chemotherapy treatments she is undergoing for breast cancer.
For any other prayer requests, please send to Audrey Stansbury at audreystansbury@gmail.com.
